"It's Easier to Build a Girl Than to Repair a Woman."
Girls today are in desperate need of a safe and loving environment in which they can hear truth. SMM seeks to provide this. Whether it is run in the church, in a school, or a home, SMM seeks to help girls encounter Christ in a life-changing way. By spending time with adult leaders, these girls get to see the Titus 2 model of discipleship lived out. We want every SMM girl to know that she is a cherished, unique daughter of the Most High King and her value comes from a relationship with Him.
SMM began in 1913 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Mary Bauman started a special club for the girls in her church. She loved all of the girls and wanted them to grow up to know Jesus. They called their club the "Sisterhood of Mary and Martha."
Little did Mary know that her idea would one day include thousands of girls. While the name of the organization has changed over the years, SMM, now Sisters Mentoring with a Mission, holds true to the values of loving girls and encouraging them to love Jesus.
